A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A LEAD COOK
As a Lead Cook, you play a crucial role in delivering high-quality culinary dishes to our medical center patients. Working with our revered executive chef, you prepare and cook high volumes of soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other food items in our kitchen. The meals you're cooking are always made to the highest quality. As a lead, you will direct and guide line cooks and other kitchen staff, under the supervision of the executive chef and sous chef, to ensure food production is prepared accurately and in a timely manner. This position will support the AYR (At Your Request) station.
You review the needs of the day with the assigned supervisor. Once you receive your assigned kitchen area, you handle quality control in food preparation as well as overall sanitation of that area. Keeping the kitchen safe and clean is a top priority, and you take great care to adhere to all precautions.
This is a really cool place to work! Our executive chef is revered here in our area and was featured in the NY Times for the local food service program she is a part of. You love learning new cooking skills under her direction, rather than being stuck in a production line. Being part of a tight-knit culinary team is what you were meant to do, which is why you love this cooking position in our kitchen!
