Job Description

Summary

We provide security services for a variety of large and small business clients where health, safety and security is our #1 priority. The Trespass Manager leads program operations to ensure the protection and see that no unauthorized persons are abusing, misusing or trespassing on NANA’s lands. All duties are to be performed in accordance with NMS’ mission, vision, and values.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises operational procedures and activities for client’s security services.

  • Assigns personnel to various posts or patrols. Interprets security rules and procedures.

  • Responsible for daily communication with RPO’s.

  • Establish, review, and execute safety plans and daily routes.

  • Collect and document wildlife spotting information.

  • Continually communicates with client and leadership to assist them as required with security matters and to improve services.

  • Continually communicates with all levels of staff to review operating procedures, daily updates, etc. to be able to improve assigned operations.

  • Administrates a variety of business-related paperwork.

  • Performs a variety of security related investigations.

  • Review recorded data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, incident reports, etc. to determine appropriate courses of action.

  • Confers with various agencies to gain their cooperation and coordination.

  • Manages subordinate security personnel.

  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of a unit and directly supervises non-supervisory employees.

  • Patrol all NANA lands by boat or by airplane.

  • Contact people found on NANA lands and verify licenses and reasons for being there.

  • Ensures trespassers will be issued written notice of trespass if warranted. Assists in the preparation of litigation, if warranted.

  • Coordinates assigned land program activities with other public/private land owners as well as public law enforcement agencies.

  • Support RPO’s with equipment supplies including, but not limited to:

  • Propellers, Oars, Lifejackets, Batteries, Garmin inreach device, VHF radios, Officer coveralls, necessary safety gear.

  • Spend trespass season in the region patrolling with RPO’s as needed. Provide aerial patrols beyond navigable waters.

  • Makes sure all assigned activities comply with sound business practices and applicable regulations/requirements.

  • Follow procedures and requirements for any and all expanded trespass program opportunities.

  • Prepares and implements a public information program for the region.

  • Represents NANA’s Land Department with shareholders, the business community, and the public.

  • Consistently demonstrates remarkable skills in handling assigned activities, teamwork, communications, operating efficiencies, decision making, and analyzing and solving problems.

  • Notify supervisor if safety and sanitation standards are not being met.

  • Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit’s success also may be assigned.

  • This position is responsible for the supervision of staff

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.

  • At least five (5) years of directly related responsible security experience. Experience must include progressive supervisory responsibilities.

  • A valid State of Alaska Security Guard License upon hire.

  • A valid vessel license.

  • A valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under NMS’ vehicle insurance policy.

  • Preference will be given to experience that evidences a knowledge of state trespass regulations, NANA’s land policies/practices, federal, state, and local land management laws and programs, a knowledge of NANA and its region, and ANCSA and ANILCA provisions.

  • Must be able to operate basic GPS equipment and programs

  • Must evidence exemplary interpersonal communications skills.

  • Must be diplomatic and able to deal with people under potentially confrontational and adversarial situations.

  • NANA Shareholder preference and a familiarity with boat navigation in the river and lake systems in the area is desired.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Weather: Outdoor. Frequently exposed to arctic conditions.

Noise level: Moderate to Loud

Description of environment: This position is located in remote villages of the NANA Region.

Must constantly be able to stand, sit, walk, climb, push, pull use hands and arms, stoop, kneel and crouch.

Physical requirements: Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50lbs.
